Switch It Off in OGDC..

blog (re)

The issue of Global Warming is not something new. The causes, the devastating effects and lastly, the cure or solutions to reduce the effect of Global Warming, have all been presented in several conferences and even taught in schools.

According to the Energy Logbook 2008 from The Institute of Energy Economics, Japan, IEEJ, the energy-to-population ratio for Brunei Darussalam is 6934 KWh, one of the highest in Asia, higher than Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and even India.

As we all know, 100% of our electricity that are generated from the power plant are powered by fossil fuels, including natural gas and diesel fuel, which directly contributes to the increasing effect of Global Warming. Hence the only way to sustain the fossil fuels reserves and to slow down the effects of Global Warming is by practicing energy conservation.

Here in Oil and Gas Discovery Centre, we join hand-in-hand to tackle the issue of Global Warming and save our planet by conserving electrical energy by promoting the ‘Switch Off Campaign’.

Mini-posters which acts as reminder, for the staffs and even visitors, are posted all over OGDC to remind everyone to switch off the lights, air-conditioners and other electrical appliances in the offices and even the toilets, when not in used.

The campaign’s main objective is to promote conservation of energy and saving the environment by trimming down the excessive use of electricity.

We would like to encourage people throughout Brunei Darussalam to participate in this campaign and start to conserve energy by all means.

That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.’ – Neil Armstrong.
